Bandaging in dogs
What do you need?
- Cotton wool roll
- Plaster
- Betadiene
- Sterile gauzes
- Petflex
- Vetramil
Step-by-step
- Rinse the wound
- Disinfect the wound while dabing
- Wrap a gauze and grease with some vetramil
- Place the petflex loosely around the padding and connect the strap so that the pressure is even.
- If necessary, take a fixation patch to prevent the bandage from sagging.
Tips
- First, make sure that the wound is covered with a sterile gauze.
- Don't be too frugal with what you're doing. It is important that there is a good underlay for the correct pressure distribution.
- Make sure the pressure is even.
- The bandage must overlap each new stroke with the old stroke.
- Place new bandages regularly, and check that the wound does not become inflamed.
- Pay attention to medicines under the bandage. When it gets too hot, the recovery process can be slowed down. This increases the risk of a wound infection.
