Stress in dogs
Stress is a problem that occurs regularly in dogs. There are many causes for stress, and usually it involves a combination of these causes. It is important to recognize the stressful behavior of the dog in time and to do something about it. Stress causes a deterioration in your dog's state of mind and overall health. So try to limit and avoid the stress and stress situations as much as possible.
Causes of stress are:
- pain
- Too high demands (e.g. during training and daily life).
- Loneliness and separation anxiety
- excitement
- Traumas (e.g. if the dog has been attacked)
- Sudden changes (e.g. removals)
- Too much or too little movement
Features of a dog with stress:
- restlessness
- Overreact (e.g. long barking when the bell rings).
- Scratching and licking yourself a lot
- Biting certain objects
- Lots of barking and crying.
- No appetite
- Poor concentration
- In poor condition
- Raised foreleg
- Tones of white eye white
- vibrate
Consequences of too much stress:
- Damage to the immune system
- allergies
- Digestive problems
- Heart problems
- Aggressive behaviour
- Other behavioral problems
It is important that you try to remove the cause of the stress from the dog as soon as possible (if possible). Sometimes it is not possible to find out the cause yourself and it is necessary to bring in a behavioral therapist. Call in a behavioral therapist if, for example, the dog is very aggressive or has an extreme form of separation anxiety. Also, certain foods or supplements can cause the stress reactions to go away or decrease. It is wise to look for products that naturally, without negative side effects, balance your dog.
Better safe than sorry!
Try to make sure that your dog can lose enough energy by walking and playing enough.
